Attendance

What are the session schedules, and can I choose which day to attend?

Each session runs twice, and you can choose whichever day suits you:

Thursday
08:00 UTC
Friday
13:00 UTC

You only need to attend one of the two days for each session, not both.

Can students and teachers from the same school attend separately?

Yes. Students and teachers from the same school do not have to attend together. Each person can choose the day that works best for them.

Can students attend together using one device?

Yes, students may attend as a group using a single device. Please follow these rules:

  • Set the Zoom account or display name to your school name.
  • Whenever a student speaks or asks a question, they must state their individual name first.

This makes sure each participant can be identified even when a device is shared.

Is there an attendance form, and when does it close?

Yes. An attendance form is shared during each session, and you must complete it to be marked present.

  • The form closes two hours after the session ends.
  • Forms submitted after that time will not be counted.
  • Out of respect for everyone, the form is only shared inside the session. It is not posted in the WhatsApp group or anywhere else.
Is proxy attendance allowed?

No. Having someone else attend, or submit the attendance form on your behalf, is strictly forbidden and may result in disqualification from certification.

How many sessions are there?

There are four sessions in Tsunami United 2026.

Should teachers who are registered attend the sessions?

Yes, we recommend it. To receive a certificate of attendance, teachers should attend at least three of the four sessions.

How is attendance counted?

You are counted as attending a session if both of these are true:

  • You were present during the session.
  • You completed the attendance form shared during that session.

Both conditions must be met for your attendance to be recorded.

Zoom link and access

Do I need to rename my Zoom display name?

Yes. All participants must rename their Zoom account or display name using this format:

Format Example
NAME_SCHOOL NAME Alex_High School 1

If your display name does not follow this format, you may not be verified as attending, which can affect your certificate eligibility.

Certificates

If I register, do I automatically get a certificate?

No. Registering does not automatically grant you a certificate. Certificates are only issued to participants who meet the attendance requirements below.

What are the requirements to obtain a Certificate of Attendance?

Teachers and students must all do the following:

  • Attend at least three of the four sessions, choosing either the Thursday or the Friday slot for each one.
  • Complete the attendance form for each session before it closes, within two hours of the session ending.
  • Follow the Zoom naming and attendance rules above.
Are there other types of certificates?

Yes. Other certificate categories, such as special achievements, competition participation or specific roles, will be announced separately with their own terms and conditions.
